With an aim to transcend institutional differences in historical research, the ”PhD Colloquium for Historical Studies” investigates what it entails to do historical work. Over the course of multiple seminars, doctoral students have meet and discussed both differing and overlapping perspectives on historical studies. This seminar serie is ended with a full day event on the theme "Creative Archives".

During this end of term day, we invite speakers, panelists and participants to discuss 'the archive(s)' across boundaries and borders, and how to creatively make use of the historical materials found all around us - from archives in the traditional sense, to the archival qualities and opportunities found in unexpected places. The day will also touch upon the ethical and personal aspects of archives and archival work.
In short, the day will prompt us, on the one hand, to reflect on how we can use unexpected archives to begin asking new questions, and on the other hand, how new analytical approaches can create unexpected archival uses.
It will also be a day to meet fellow PhD students with historical approaches in their research, regardless of if this thesis work is done within our outside traditional historical disciplines.
Whether you have long experience in archival research and wish to explore new approaches, or you are simply curious to know more about how to go about and make your research inquiries explore archives, we hope you will join us!
