Kaleidoscope - The role of learning environments in active learning
Kaleidoscope is a pedagogical development course (approx. 40 hours) for university teachers who want to explore how different learning environments – both physical and digital – influence student engagement, inclusion, and learning.

About the course
Kaleidoscope is a pedagogical development course (approx. 40 hours) for university teachers who want to explore how different learning environments – both physical and digital – influence student engagement, inclusion, and learning.
The course includes:
- Visits to several of Uppsala University’s campuses to experience diverse classrooms and settings
- Workshops and hands-on activities focusing on active and collaborative learning, hybrid teaching, and authentic assignments
- Collegial learning through sharing experiences and giving peer feedback
- Continuous reflection through a learning log, culminating in a joint publication of insights
The course runs over the spring term 2026 and concludes with a symposium at Campus Gotland 11 September 2026, where participants present their ideas and reflections on how learning environments can be developed to better support teaching and learning.
Travel to Gotland: Each participant books their own travel and accommodation. The Unit for Acacemic Teaching and Learning provides a travel subsidy of SEK 2000 per participant to help cover costs.
Prerequisite
Completion of the university’s basic academic teacher training course (or equivalent).
Targetgroup, participants
University teachers are the target group. The course is limited to 15 participants.
Admission is based on the order in which applications are received.
Participants who complete all course activities will receive a certificate corresponding to one week of full-time work (40 hours).

The prerequisite for this is that course information and course objectives are the same.
