Online training in information security is now available. The course will be mandatory for all new employees but all current members of staff are also urged to do the course, which takes about an hour.
The course “Basic training in information security” is web-based and is conducted via self-study on the Studium platform. The course is part of the “Security and safety for university staff” package of basic and advanced courses.
As a first step, in autumn 2025, all new recruits will receive an email from the Security and Safety Division calling on them to take the course when they start their employment. The course will become mandatory for all new employees in spring 2026. This means that new employees will have to complete the course within 65 days for continued access to their IT resources.
Everyone’s online behaviour an important security factor
Needless to say, the reason for the course and for making it mandatory for new employees is the risk posed by cyber threats that target public authorities, among others, and that can harm the organisation in various ways.
Many measures are being taken to address cyber threats at an overall level, such as the upgrade to Windows 11 for all staff. However, not all cyber threats can be eliminated through technical solutions. As users, we also need to be aware of cyber threats and how we can act in our daily work to minimise the risks.
The course aims to provide you with basic knowledge and awareness of security aspects related to information management. The course answers questions such as what information security is and why information needs to be protected. It also explains that you, your data processing and your behaviour, are important elements of protection.
Everyone should take the course
Naturally, the course is not just relevant for new recruits, it is equally important for those of us who are already employed. All staff can therefore easily register and take the course (see link in the fact box below).
The “Basic training in information security” course is available in Swedish and English and is estimated to take approximately one hour to complete.
