Friskör seeks new choir director

"We are looking for a choir director who works at Uppsala University and hope that someone is willing to take on the assignment without remuneration – perhaps as a way to utilise their own wellness hour. At the same time, we are also investigating whether there are grants or other funds available to finance an external choir director,” says Erik Åstrand, Administrator at the Department of Education and coordinator for Friskör.

All employees are welcome

All employees at Uppsala University are welcome to join Friskör, regardless of any previous experience in choir singing. Friskör is primarily a wellness choir, and singing itself is the most important thing, emphasizes Erik Åstrand.

“The idea is that you can use your wellness hour for joyful singing together, but we usually put on a performance for friends and family at the end of the term. Over the years, there have also been some larger performances; for example, there have been three performances in the University's Grand Auditorium so far.”
