The Vice-Chancellor has initiated the project University Library: a ten-year horizon. The goal of the project is to develop a vision and plan for the University Library’s development over the next ten years. The project will submit a final report to the Vice-Chancellor in June 2026.

The project group’s mission is to develop a vision and plan for the University Library’s development over the next ten years. The long-term goals are to:

  • safeguard the Library’s ability to function as a development-focused and University-wide infrastructure with sustainable conditions over the long term to deliver what students, researchers and other staff need;
  • establish a well-anchored direction for future dimensioning and balance between the Library’s physical locations and digital or location-independent services.

Open workshop

For interested staff and students, the project group has issued an invitation to an open workshop on 19 March 2026.

Main questions for the workshop:

  • What kind of University Library do we foresee in ten years’ time?
  • How can the Library best contribute to the University’s research, education and third stream activity in the future?

International and national chief librarians will initiate the discussion with their predictions about the future.
