Uppsala University’s 550th Anniversary
In spring 2021, following a preliminary study, the Vice-Chancellor decided to begin planning for Uppsala University’s 550th anniversary in 2027. On 7 October 2025, a decision was made on the implementation period and financial framework for the anniversary period, 27 February–27 November 2027. During the spring semester of 2028, the anniversary period will be summarised in a report to be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor by 30 June 2028 at the latest.
The steering group consists of the Vice-Chancellor's Council members Johan Tysk, Kerstin Sahlin, Mathias Hallberg, Anna Rosling, Per Ström and student representatives from the student unions and nations. Johan Tysk is the chair and reports regularly to the Vice-Chancellor.
Communications Director Pernilla Björk is project owner and Anna Liv Jonsson is project manager.
