Recruitment process for next term of office

The current term of office of Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Coco Norén expires on 31 December 2026. Both have announced that they are available for a further three-year term.

As stated in the University’s Rules of Procedure, if reappointment is possible, the University Board must assess whether the conditions exist for a simplified process as described in the Rules of Procedure for Uppsala University, Chapter 5, Section 4, points 12-18.

On 25 April 2025, the University Board decided to start the process and set a provisional timetable. A recruitment committee has been appointed with the task of reviewing the way in which the current Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor have discharged their duties, which includes assessing the conditions for considering reappointment via a simplified process. The committee must submit its proposal on the continuation of the process to the University Board by 15 September 2025.
