Our teaching

We teach on the English Park campus in Uppsala and with our distance courses during this spring semester. For distance courses in ethnology, the teaching takes place through the learning platform Studium and the video conference service Zoom. Studium and sometimes Zoom are also used for our campus courses.

It is important that you stay up-to-date on your studies - there can be changes in where, when and how the teaching will be carried out.

A place from the waiting list

We contact those on the waiting list in turn. If you have been placed on a waiting list and can be offered a course place, you will be contacted by the department by e-mail. Make sure that your contact information is correct at www.antagning.se. Sometimes our message end up in the junk box – do not forget to look there!

Distance courses in ethnology

The distance courses in ethnology are given from Uppsala. It is important to register for the course (or courses) you have been admitted to in Ladok. The teaching takes place through the learning platform Studium and the video conference service Zoom.

If you have questions about our distance courses; contact coordinator Carina Johansson.

Studium – the learning platform

All course information – schedule, teacher contacts, reading instructions, literature lists, assignments and more – can be found in the learning platform Studium.

As with course registration, you must first have activated your student account to be able to log in to Studium. Please note that it may take a day or so after you have register before you can log in.

You can read our syllabi without being logged in as soon as the courses are published:

Have you changed your mind, or been prevented?

If you decide to terminate a course* you are registered on, you do that in Ladok for students. It is important that our teachers will know if you will attend to a course or not; and important so that another student can be notified of a possible admission.

If you terminate a course before three weeks have passed since the course started, it will be an early break. You can then apply for the course again.

If you terminate a course later than three weeks after the start of the course, you will not be able to apply for the course again. If you want to resume your studies at a later time, you can contact the department directly and be re-registered if there is an available place.

*Important! If you are waiting to receive a grade for a sub-module in a course, the grade needs to be registered in Ladok before you terminate the course.

More about termination.

If you do not intend to continue your studies, you should submit notification of discontinuation of the programme. If you have discontinued the programme, you cannot continue your studies or complete unfinished courses in the programme. For this reason, it is important not to give notice of discontinuation until the courses from which you are waiting for results have reported results and are completed.

If you later wish to resume your studies, you must make a new application for a place in the programme.

The discontinuation will take effect from the date on which you submitted the notification. This means that you will not be able to complete courses you have started.

You download the e-form Notification of discontinuation and follow the instructions.

More about discontinuation of a programme.

Academic leave of absence

If you need to pause your studies you should apply for academic leave of absence from studies to guarantee that you have a place in the programme or the course when you wish to resume your studies. If you interrupt your studies without notification, you will not be guaranteed a place in your programme or course.

You download the e-form Application for academic leave of absence and follow the instructions. The director of studies grants or rejects.

Resumption of studies

Before the academic leave of absence ends, you need to apply to return to your studies. You download the e-form Notification of resumption of studies and follow the instructions. The director of studies grants or rejects.

More about academic leave of absence.

Transfer of credits

If you want to credit completed higher education credits as part of a course, you download you download the e-form Application for credit transfer and follow the instructions. The director of studies grants or rejects.

If you want to receive credit for a whole course, you apply to the Graduation Office at Uppsala University for a credit transfer.
